Jamshedpur, May 10: Jamshedpur Cooperative College’s Department of English launched its Literary Club, ‘Chaucer’ at an inauguration programme organized at its Vivekananda Auditorium. ‘Chaucer’ has been named after eminent medieval English poet, author and civil servant Geoffrey Chaucer whose ‘The Canterbury Tales’ had been critically hailed.
College Principal Dr Amar Singh and Ravi Kant Mishra were present as the chief guests on the occasion. Dr Amar Singh spoke on the effectiveness of literature and theatre and urged students to join these streams.

Theatre activist whose realms in this important segment of performing media include acting, direction, script writing and training, spoke in detail of the minute aspects of theatre as an emphatic form of expressing social and other concepts through theatrical narratives of short stories. Dr Ruchika Tiwary anchored the event while the vote of thanks was offered by RK Singh. Those present at the inaugural function of the Literary Club, ‘Chaucer’ included HOD of English, Dr Sunita Sahay, Dr Ruchika Tiwari, Dr Antara Kumari and Brijesh Kumar along with other professors and students of various departments.
