Jamshedpur, Aug 25: Cooperative College Ground in Jamshedpur will now host Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) matches.
A lease agreement was signed between JSCA and Jamshedpur Cooperative College allowing the use cooperative college ground for cricketing purposes on Tuesday, August 25.
With the unavailability of Keenan Stadium, all local and board matches are being played at Ranchi’s JSCA International Cricket Stadium. The action has been missing in Jamshedpur which was considered as the Mecca of cricket in Jharkhand and known as the sports city of India, ever since sports infrastructure developed in the state capital.
“August 25 is historic day for Jharkhand state Cricket Association as years of struggle for finding a good additional ground for hosting the board and local matches at Jamshedpur, ended with the signing of a lease agreement between JSCA and Jamshedpur Cooperative College allowing the use cooperative college ground for cricketing purposes”, said a JSCA official.
The ground will be prepared and managed by JSCA as per the BCCI standards for hosting board matches as well as local matches.
Unavailability of ground has always been a challenge and hindrance for JSCA while organizing domestic matches. Availability of this ground will increase the bandwidth of JSCA while conducting matches and promoting cricket in the state.
The lease agreement was signed by Dr. Nafis Akhtar Khan, President JSCA and Prof. V.K. Singh, Principal Jamshedpur Cooperative College.
The lease agreement was signed in presence of PS Sen, Treasurer, JSCA, Rajiv Badhan, Joint Secretary, JSCA, Rajesh Verma alias Bobby, former Secretary, JSCA, Abhay Sankhar Singh, representative schools and clubs JSCA and Pankaj Sahay JSCA, member.
