Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee has taken decisive disciplinary action, handing a lifetime ban to party leader Abhijeet Singh. The expulsion comes amid allegations of serious anti-party activities during the ongoing local body elections.
The ‘Betrayal’ in Jugsalai
The controversy centers on the Jugsalai Municipal Council chairperson election. According to District President Pervinder Singh, the incident involved:
-
Alleged Defection: Indu Devi, a Congress-supported candidate, reportedly shifted her support to a BJP-backed rival.
-
Internal Suspicion: An internal review found Abhijeet Singh’s role in this cross-party alignment to be “directly or indirectly suspicious.”
Zero-Tolerance Disciplinary Action
Describing the act as a “serious betrayal” and a “gross irregularity,” the committee has implemented the following:
-
Permanent Expulsion: Singh is barred from holding party membership for life.
-
Lifetime Ban: He is prohibited from any future association with the Indian National Congress.
-
Dossier Submission: A full report is being sent to the State President and the National In-charge for final review.
The district leadership is sending a clear message: Organizational discipline is non-negotiable. This move is designed to halt “cross-party alignment” and ensure total loyalty during crucial election cycles.
