Jamshedpur, May 8: May 8 is celebrated as the World Red Cross Day and the occasion took the form of a festival in Jamshedpur where people come out in huge numbers to donate blood gifting the most precious thing in life to others.
“Residents in large numbers have been donating blood on the day which goes on to prove that Jamshedpur is always ready to blow life on to the others,” said ADC Sunil Kumar after inaugurating the blood donation camp at Red Cross Bhawan on Sunday, May 8. Kumar and his wife Prabha Choudhary also donated the blood on the occasion.
Till 3 p.m. 850 units of blood were collected. Present on the occasion, Chandulal Bhalotia said, “Red Cross has made a tradition of blood donation in this city where donors on the date reach the place to donate blood.”
Congratulating the blood donors, Shailendra Burnwal, JAP-6 Commandant said donating blood when the temperature is soaring with every passing day is in itself is an exemplification.
Also present on the occasion were noted social worker Beli Bodhanwala, Prabhakar Singh, general secretary of Singhbhum Chamber of commerce and Industry, Nalini Rammurthy, general secretary of Jamshedpur Blood Bank, SDO Suraj Kumar, Ratan Joshi, Satyanarayn Agarwal, Rakesh Mishra, Ashok Agarwal, Deepak Dokania, Bharat Vasani and others were present.
