Jamshedpur candidates put their strength to woo voters in last minutes campaigning

Jamshedpur, May 10 : Soaring temperature across the district failed to deter the spirit of candidates vying for entry in Parliament. Almost all 23 candidates in fray for election from Jamshedpur Parliamentary constituency were seen sweating out to attract the voters.
With few hours left for the campaigning for the third phase of polling in the State, the candidates focussed their campaigning canvassing across the constituencies. This time parties� leaders spent more time in the rural belts like Ghatshila, Potka, Behragora and Jugsalai assembly seats that are crucial and considered to deciding factors in elections.

As the day began sensing few hours for the by poll campaign, candidates made their last-minute push to woo voters.

While BJP candidate and sitting MP Bidyut Baran Mahto took out a motorcycle rally in Jamshedpur, grand alliance candidate Champai Soren focused on door-to-door campaign. State�s HRD Minister Neera Yadav also took out padhyatra in favour of Mahto.

�We did our best to reach out to the voters. This is an important election for us and since villages play pivotal role so it is important to spread party�s message in the rural belt. Moreover, Mahto is quite popular in the villages so it is obvious that our focus was rural areas,� Anil Modi, spokesperson, district BJP.

Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency comprises the following six Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments BaharagoraGhatshila, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West.
Though a total of 24 candidates are in fray for elections, the main fight is between sitting MP and BJP candidate BidyutBaranMahto and Grand Alliance tribal candidate, Champai Soren, from Jamshedpur general seat. Both the candidates are facing neck to neck fight.
On the last day of campaigning the most of the candidates restricted to door-to-door campaign,

�PadhYatra is the best mode of interaction with the voters but given the size of the constituency it gets little complex to touch voters individually however, we are aiming to cover as many people as we could in the remaining hours,� said a JMM leader.

The Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency has 15,51,297 voters. In 2014, BidyutBaranMahto registered his debut in Parliament by defeating Ajoy Kumar by a margin of 99874 votes.
