Jamshedpur: In a significant move to promote the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal and Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar flagged off four awareness chariots from the Collectorate. The event was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Public Relations Officer, and Assistant Director of Social Security.
The awareness chariots are set to travel across Panchayats and Municipal bodies from August 3 to August 10. Mittal emphasized that women aged 21 to 50 who are not covered by any other pension scheme are eligible to receive Rs 1000 per month for nutrition, health, and hygiene. Applications can be submitted at special camps organized in Panchayat buildings and urban areas. Even after these camps, applications can be submitted at Pragya Kendras.
Eligible beneficiaries must be Jharkhand residents aged 21-50 with a single bank account linked to Aadhaar, or those who will link their accounts by December 2024. Voter ID and Aadhaar cards are required, along with one of the state’s ration cards. However, individuals who are income tax payers, EPF holders, or employed in certain government and public sector jobs are excluded. Additionally, those already receiving other social security pensions or whose family members are current or former MPs/MLAs are ineligible.
Anganwadi workers will distribute application forms free of charge, and special camps will handle applications in rural and urban areas. Applicants must be present for Aadhaar and photo verification. The Block Development Officer and Zonal Officer will oversee the scheme’s implementation, and beneficiaries will receive monthly payment updates via their registered mobile numbers.
