Jamshedpur businessman gets extortion call, police set up special probe team

Jamshedpur, Feb. 4: A city-based businessman received an extortion call from an unidentified caller at Bistupur following this the victim has lodged a complaint with the police.

In this connection, the police set up a special team to investigate and detect the caller having received the complaint from the businessman, Govind Nagelia, who is a resident of R Road in Bistupur.

According to information the caller had made the extortion call for Rs 25 lakh made over the cellphone of Nagelia’s wife on January 25. The caller had threatened with dire consequence if his demand is not met.

According to police, the victim’s family who was concerned of unseen danger had kept silence for over a week, but as no further call came, Nagelia had late on Sunday night lodged a complaint with the Bistupur police station.

City SP, Prabhat Kumar confirmed about the extortion call made to Nagelia family recently and pointed out that they are trying to detect the caller.

“We have received a complaint of someone making an extortion call for Rs 25 lakh at the house of GovindNagelia a week ago. We have formed a special team to detect the caller,” said Kumar.

The City SP said the special team in co-operation with the cyber thana experts are making all efforts to find out the caller as soon as possible and they expect a breakthrough soon.Nagelia has a jewelry shop on Diagonal Road in Bistupur and his wife runs a boutique at Bistupur.
