Jamshedpur, July 19: Construction work was abruptly halted near Srinath Apartment in Kadma after it was discovered that a builder was violating a prohibitory order issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO). The SDO, Parul Singh, arrived at the site with a team and stopped the unauthorized work, confiscating all construction materials. The prohibition, enforced under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (previously Section 144), specifically banned any construction activity in the area.
Despite the clear directives, construction continued until the SDO’s intervention. Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato was present at the scene, adding a layer of political significance to the incident. There are allegations of interference in the plot by Savita Mahato and the late former Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahato.
The dispute centres around a plot of land where Devashish Mahato, a resident of Uliyan, Kadma, claims that the builder is illegally encroaching on the property. According to Mahato, his ancestor, Jagbandhu Mahato, was the rightful owner of the adjacent plot. Following legal heir Vimal Kumar Mahato, the current occupants of the disputed land are reportedly aggressive and have engaged in violent confrontations with Mahato’s supporters. In response to these developments and the illegal construction, the SDO has issued a strict order to cease all activities on the land.
