Jamshedpur, July 1: The Jamshedpur Vendors Association (BSNL) today lashed out at Jamshedpur management and the centre for keeping bill payments and advance refunds over a long period of time and demanded payments of workers and labourers working under their members within 15 days failing which it would be forced to launch a massive agitation. The Vendors Association members led by Bablu Jha wore black badges and sat en masse in a peaceful protest before the Chief general Managers office at Tinplate. The other Association members who sat in protest included Vijay Chandra Jha, Vinay Chandra Jha, Rakesh Kumar, Mithilesh, Birendra Jha, BK Singh, Hanif, Om Prakash Gupta, Someshwar Rao, Raju Nag, Amarjit Kumar (Munna), Rakesh Prasad, Nehru Gorai, Raj Kumar, Raja Patro, R Ravi Kumar, Saurav Jha, Pappu Mukhi, Malkit Singh, Raj Kumar, Uma Shankar, GG Ghosh and others.
BSNL Jamshedpur Manager Sanjiv Kumar invited the protesters to his office and informed them of the current status of the PSU and assured them that all their dues would be paid soon. The Chief Manager KK Thakur played an important role in this meeting.
Bablu Jha taking aim at the centre stated that the present government was only catering to the interests of private telecom operators while adopting a step motherly attitude towards its own PSU. The situation is such that all the vendors and their staff and workers are on the brink of starvation and in the grips of acute tension, said Jha. He also accused the government of using their advance amounts to meet the salary payments of its officials while the vendors were paying bank interests for the advance deposits that they had made. It may be said that this advance scam of the government is a policy that is coming to negative light, he stated.
