Jamshedpur: The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather forecast predicting light to moderate rainfall across most parts of Jharkhand today. The forecast also includes the possibility of heavy rainfall in isolated areas, signaling the onset of significant weather activity in the region.
According to the latest satellite images, a low-pressure area continues to persist over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining regions of West Bengal and Bangladesh. This low-pressure system, coupled with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 4.5 kilometers above mean sea level, is tilting southwestwards with height. The movement of this weather system is expected to bring widespread rainfall to Jharkhand over the next few days.
The IMD has indicated that this low-pressure area is likely to move north-northwestwards over the next 48 hours, gradually intensifying into a well-marked low-pressure area over Bangladesh and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal region. Following this development, the system is expected to shift west-northwestwards, impacting Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and neighboring areas during the subsequent three days.
Local authorities and residents are being advised to stay alert as the weather system progresses. The potential for heavy rainfall in isolated pockets may lead to waterlogging, flash floods, and disruptions in daily life, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas. Agricultural activities might also be affected, with farmers urged to take necessary precautions to protect their crops from the impending weather conditions.
The current weather situation is being closely monitored by the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, and further updates will be issued as the system evolves. Meanwhile, citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and take appropriate measures to ensure their safety during this period of unsettled weather.
With the monsoon season in full swing, this development underscores the dynamic nature of the weather patterns affecting the region. As the low-pressure system intensifies, it is likely to bring much-needed rainfall to some areas while posing challenges to others. The next few days will be crucial in determining the extent of the impact on Jharkhand and its neighboring states.
