Jamshedpur: Under the Clean Note Policy of the Reserve Bank of India, a coin distribution and mutilated note exchange fair was organized on Wednesday at the Bank of India branch premises in Bistupur, Jamshedpur. The initiative aimed to facilitate the circulation of clean currency and provide the public with an easy platform to exchange damaged and mutilated notes as per prescribed norms.
The fair was inaugurated by Prem Ranjan Prasad Singh, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Ranchi. Addressing the gathering, he said that as India progresses towards becoming a developed nation, the circulation of clean and good-quality currency is essential. He stated that the Reserve Bank of India is continuously working to ensure the availability of clean notes and coins across the country.
He also highlighted the importance of proper usage and maintenance of currency notes and coins and urged citizens to handle currency carefully to increase its lifespan. Awareness was also shared regarding the withdrawal of soiled and mutilated notes from circulation and their replacement with fresh currency, which helps prevent counterfeiting and strengthens public confidence in the monetary system.
A large number of customers and citizens visited the fair and benefited from receiving coins and exchanging damaged notes. The event was well received by the public, especially traders and small vendors, who often face difficulties due to the non-availability of coins and poor-quality currency.
