Jamshedpur: The district administration has registered an FIR against dozens of unknown BJP workers, including the BJP president Gunjan Yadav, on a torch procession taken by the BJP Jamshedpur metropolis to protest the arrest of Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of the Republic Media Network. In protest against the move, on Friday, BJP leaders led by Gunjan Yadav submitted a memorandum to the District Deputy Commissioner and questioned the intent of the administration. The memorandum said that all the districts including the BJP had organized the program on the call of the party’s state leadership.
In this program, the activists took out a torch procession against the Maharashtra government, following the guidelines of Covid-19. On this occasion, Yadav said that the FIR lodged against me in Sakchi police station stated that a torch procession was taken out from District BJP office on 05.11.2020, which is true. But that day neither we violated the rules of lockdown nor did anything wrong. It is our democratic right to take out the torch procession and under it the torch procession was carried out against the Maharashtra government. The president said that another news item appeared in the newspapers on November 13, stating that the BJP procession led by MLA Saryu Roy took a silent procession from Bardih to Agrico Chowk. In this case, FIR has been lodged against unknown workers of Bharatiya Jan Morcha at Sidgora police station. Both FIRs have been lodged by the administrative authorities. He said that it is surprising why the administration put two criteria in two cases of the same kind. On the one hand, not registering a nominated FIR against the MLA and on the other hand, registering a nominated FIR against me directly reflects the intention of the administration. Sanjeev Sinha, Sudhanshu Ojha, Babua Singh, Anil Modi, Rakesh Singh, Pushpa Tirkey, Manjeet Singh, Pappu Singh, Prem Jha, Binod Kumar Singh, Dharmendra Prasad, Abhimanyu Singh Chauhan were present on the occasion.
