Police Inaction Sparks Outcry as Bistupur Abduction Case Remains Unsolved After 20 Days

Jamshedpur: Nearly three weeks after an incident of abduction, assault, and vehicle snatching in the heart of the city, the local police are facing intense criticism for a lack of progress. The victim, Naresh Kumar, a resident of the CP Club area in Sonari, says he has been in distress since the incident, as the accused remain at large and his vehicle is yet to be recovered.

Details of the Ordeal

The incident reportedly took place on the evening of January 11, 2026, near Bistupur. According to the complaint, Kumar had parked his car (JH-05DD-9486) and was walking toward Zudio Mall when he was approached by an acquaintance, Karandeep Singh. Within moments, five to six accomplices arrived in another vehicle, verbally abused Kumar, and forcibly dragged him inside.

The victim alleged that he was brutally assaulted during the drive, sustaining significant injuries to his face, eyes, and chest. He was subsequently taken to a room in the Sakchi Garhabasa area, where he was held captive. Under extreme duress and threats against his family’s safety, Kumar was forced to sign blank documents and write statements claiming he was selling his car voluntarily. He was then threatened with dire consequences and released by his captors.

A Struggle for Justice

Despite filing a written complaint at the Bistupur Police Station on the night of the incident and following up with a formal petition to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) on January 14, Kumar claims that investigative efforts have stalled. “I have submitted all the details, yet neither the car has been traced nor has any arrest been made. My family and I are living in constant fear,” the victim stated.

While the delay has raised serious questions regarding police accountability in such a grave criminal matter, senior officials maintain that the case is still under active investigation. A police spokesperson stated that the department is currently verifying leads and promised that strict action would be taken against the perpetrators soon.
