Jamshedpur: Bike-borne criminals open fire outside resident’s home

Jamshedpur: Panic gripped the Prakashnagar area under Govindpur police station limits on Sunday night after three bike-borne criminals opened fire outside the house of Naveen Singh, a local resident. The incident occurred around 10 PM, leaving residents shaken.

The assailants fired a bullet that pierced the iron door of the house and lodged into a wall. Naveen Singh, initially mistaking the gunshot for a firecracker, later discovered the bullet hole and casing. He immediately informed the Govindpur police, who recovered a shell from the scene and launched an investigation.

Footage from a CCTV camera installed outside the house captured the firing incident, which the police suspect could be linked to a business rivalry. Naveen Singh, who runs an ice cream business, reported recurring thefts from his ice cream vehicles in recent weeks.

Two days before the firing, Singh had caught the thieves responsible, who were later identified as his former employees. He had chosen to release them after showing leniency but now believes the firing may have been an act of revenge.

The Govindpur police have taken the CCTV footage for forensic analysis and assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. The incident has left residents concerned about security in the area.
