Jamshedpur: Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards recognise talents

 
Jamshedpur: The 25th Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards celebrating and acknowledging the achievements of six  women from the underprivileged background was held on 8th December, 2023 in the Kalakriti
Auditorium of the D.B.M.S Kadma High School. The Awards were first incepted and founded in 1994 through a permanent trust established by Bhanumathi Neelakantan’s brothers S.
Chandran and S. Sridhar to acknowledge the unsung heroes of the society who have proven
themselves champions in their field undeterred by obstacles and challenges.
The august gathering included Mrs Bhanumathi Neelakantan, Chairperson of the Bhanumathi
Neelakantan Awards as well as the Patron of D.B.M.S. Trust, Members of the Managing
Committees, Principals, Vice Principals, Co- ordinators of different units of D.B.M.S. Schools,
various eminent guests and well wishers. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Sujata
Mitra, Director of the Meherbai Hospital and the Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine,
T.M.H.
The programme commenced with a prayer song sung by the students of D.B.M.S. College of
Education. Thereafter, Mrs. Kamala Subramanian, President of the Bhanumathi Neelakantan
Awards presented a welcome address. Mrs. Rajani Shekhar, Principal of the D.B.M.S. English
School as well as the Secretary of the Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards enlightened the audience
regarding the award selection.
The awardees were Ms. Amrit Kaur in the category I (Physically Challenged), Ms. Lakhimani
Sardar in category II (Woman Entrepreneur), Ms. Shabnam Parween and Ms. Pushpa Singh in
category III (An Outstanding Sportswoman), Ms. Archita Hazra in category IV (Outstanding
Student) and Ms. Shanti Lata Tudu in category V (Social Worker). The awardees were presented
with mementos and certificates by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sujata Mitra. Mr. K.S. Narayan, Member
of the Bhanumathi Neelakantan Awards presented a cheque of Rs 10,000 to each of the awardees.
This was followed by a presentation of a melodious song sung by Ms. Amrit Kaur, an awardee of
the current year.
In order to appreciate and encourage the awardees to continue their efforts to reach greater heights
of success and be role models for the society, various members of the Bhanumathi Neelakantan
Awards as well as well wishers presented gifts and hampers to the awardees. Thereafter,
Lakhimani Sardar, an awardee of the current year shared her response and expressed her gratitude.
Mrs. Bhanumathi Neelakantan, Chairperson of B.N, Awards addressed the gathering and shared her views and insights. Highlighting the achievements of the awardees, she instilled in the audience a need to feel motivated by such stellar examples and to keep working diligently onto the
path of success. Thereafter, Mrs. Sujata Mitra addressed the gathering sharing her views on B.N.
Awards and the noble cause. She was presented a memento and gift hamper.
Mrs. Gurpreet Bhamra, Principal of the D.B.M.S. Kadma High School proposed the vote of thanks.
