Steel city to get new-look Kadma-Sonari Link Road

Jamshedpur, Feb 18: The Steel City is gearing up to celebrate the 183rd birth anniversary of its founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. Preparations are in full swing to add a festive look to the city.

As part of the celebrations roundabouts across Jamshedpur have been illuminated by Tata Steel UISL. A trial of the light decors and designs was conducted on Thursday evening during which prominent spots in Bistupur and Sakchi were illuminated. Tata Steel along with Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited are working in tandem to ensure a bedecked Jamshedpur in Alice’s Wonderland ambience in countdown to the Big Day. However, with persisting COVID fear, may see lesser grandeur at the Jubilee Park but city roundabouts and arterial roads are being decorated in a manner to reignite the spirit of 3rd March joy among citizens and visitors.

The Steel City will pay tributes to the founder, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata on his 183nd birth anniversary on March 3, 2022. The celebrations commemorate the vision of the Founder after whom the the steel city took its name over a century ago.

There are possibilities that Jamshedpur, like previous years will get a beautiful gift on Founder’s Day. Kadma-Sonari Link Road, one of the posh locations in the City has been revamped and might be inaugurated on March 3 by senior officials of Tata Group. Hundreds of Jamshedpurians visit the Link road for morning and evening walks and also spend quality time with their loved ones.

The walls along the road are being painted with 3D art depicting the history of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur. At the side of the road, a cycle track has been laid while pathway in the middle of the road will provide convenience to morning and evening walkers. A park by the side of the Link Road has been developed as open gym.

Night view of the road is even more stunning as street light poles have also been adorned. According to Tata Steel UISL sources, the work to refurbish the road is being done on war footing and soon it will be completed. However the date of its inauguration has yet to be confirmed.

Founder’s Day was first instituted by Tata Steel on March 3, 1932. It was D N Madan, Chief Accountant, Tata Iron and Steel Company, who first conceived the idea of observing and celebrating an annual gathering to commemorate the birth anniversary of J.N. Tata.
