Jamshedpur, April 24: For the first time in almost two years (712 days), there are no Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum district) with neither fresh cases reported nor any active cases either in hospitals or in home isolation on Saturday, April 23.
Since April 17, the Steel City has not reported any fresh Covid cases, while the active cases gradually declined as people recovered and on Saturday, April 23, the number of active cases fell to zero following the recovery of one patient.
Jamshedpur reported first Covid-19 case on May 11, 2020 when two students from Chakulia in Ghatsila sub-division in East Singhbhum district tested positive for the deadly virus.
The two persons, who returned from Kolkata on May 8, were referred to the Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.
These were the first cases to be reported from the Kolhan division, comprising of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan districts.
The overall recoveries in Jamshedpur stood at 68665 out of a total of 69797 cases detected, while 1,132 persons have lost their lives to Covid-19, the East Singhbhum district health bulletin said.
The test positivity rate was also zero while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.62 per cent and 98.38 per cent, respectively.
The health department has tested 24,07,315 samples so far and has found 23,37,518 to be negative.
On the vaccination front, so far 2,953,539 people have been vaccinated of which 1,66,54,49 have received the first doses, 1,25,44,33 second doses and 33,657 with booster doses.
