Jamshedpur, Sept 26: The police have cracked the shooting incident that took place on the night of September 17 in Gandhi Nagar, Bagbera.
The main accused, 21-year-old Badal Samasi, along with a minor, were apprehended on Thursday night following an intense manhunt.
City SP revealed on Friday that the altercation leading to the shooting stemmed from a verbal spat between the accused and local youth Popo Munda.
In a fit of revenge, Badal allegedly shot at Munda, after which both suspects went into hiding.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a special team was formed to track down the fugitives.
Acting on confidential intelligence, the police raided Badal Samasi’s residence in Gandhi Nagar, where both suspects were arrested.
During the operation, a country-made pistol and a magazine were recovered. Interrogation revealed that both had confessed to the crime.
Notably, Badal Samasi already had a pending case of theft registered against him. Following the recovery of the weapon, the police have registered a fresh case under the Arms Act at Bagbera Police Station (Case No. 98/2025).
The raid was carried out by a team including Thana In-Charge Gopal Krishna Yadav, Assistant Inspectors Xavier Horo, Alok Kumar, Santosh Kumar, and Sunil Kumar Yadav.
