Jamshedpur: Awareness session on menstrual cups on Women’s Day

Jamshedpur, March 8: An awareness session on the usage and utility of menstrual cups was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) auditorium on Tuesday. It was organized for the benefit of all women employees and members of women’s self help groups.

Poonam Mahanand of Nishchay Foundation shared her experience with the participants. Other speakers, Madhulika and Amit, spoke on the need to spread greater awareness on menstrual cups. They said the main purpose of the event was to promote personal health and hygiene among women. They said now women should shed all inhibitions and come forward to openly discuss issues like periods for greater social awareness.

The speakers said the menstrual cups were environment friendly, economical and reusable for a period of three to four years.

Earlier, a cake was cut by the guests and other participants and chocolates were distributed among all to mark the day.
