Jamshedpur: Asha and Himangshu crowned winners at LIC Divisional Chess Tournament

Jamshedpur, July 12: LIC Divisional Chess Tournament held at LIE Sports Club in Bistupur concluded on Tuesday.

In the women’s category Asha Kumari with 3 points was crowned the winner. Rashmi Samal scored 2 points to bag the second position while Sarita Kumari with 1 point was adjudged the second runners-up. In men’s category Himangshu B Chakarborty with 4 points was the winner followed by Kartik Chandra Das (3 points) and Ashok Das (3 points). Dileshwar Mahato with 2 points bagged the fourth spot while Ram Lal Das (2 points) was fifth in the standing.     

SN Panda, Sr Divisional Manager, LIC was the chief guest during the prize distribution ceremony of the two-day tournament. Kanhai Hansda, Manager P&IR/DM was present as guest of honour.

Also present were G Ravi Shankar, Secretary, LIE Sports Club & Tournament Director, FA Chandan Kr Prasad, Chief Arbiter and Dharmabir Prasad Balmiki, Treasurer, LIE Sports Club & Tournament Technical Director.
