Jamshedpur: Tragedy struck as two steel city archers Jaspal Singh (23) and Saras Soren (28) died in a road mishap at Shahdol, about 500 km from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh early Wednesday morning.
The speeding car hit a stationary truck at about 6 am in Burhar police station area . Jaspal and Saras were heading to Bhopal for selling archery equipment when the tragedy struck. The Madhya Pradesh capital is hosting the Junior National Archery Championship beginning from February 8.
Jaspal, a resident of Bagan area along Kalimati Road in Sakchi ,and Saras died on the spot. Jaspal runs an archery equipment business in partnership with Harender Singh, a Jamshedpur-based archery coach.

Compound archer Jaspal had won gold medal at the World Indoor Invitational Championship held at Bangkok in 2018 while Saras used to compete in Indian Round. Saras was as topper National Institute of Sports coaching diploma conducted at SAI, Kolkata last month.
Jaspal did his schooling from Carmel Junior College. His father Awtar Singh is a businessmen while mother Sharanjeet kaur is a homemaker.
Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, who was recently appointed as the president of Jharkhand Archery Association (JAA) expressed shock over the incident.
