Jamshedpur, Aug 31: Over 260 promising pugilists from different parts of the country are all set to pack a punch at the 2nd CISCE National Boxing Championship 2022 starting from Thursday at JRD Tata sports complex.
Addressing a press meet Rakhi Banerjee, the zonal coordinator of Jamshedpur Zone and the chairperson of the CISCE – National Boxing Organising Committee and Rajani Shekhar, the treasurer of ASISC – Bihar and Jharkhand Region and the Treasurer of the CISCE – National Boxing Organising Committee said that the CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination) has been conducting several sporting events at the national level over the past few years and the qualifying students then participate in the SGFI (School Games Federation India).
“ This year boxing is being conducted at the national level for the second time. The second CISCE, National Boxing Championship 2022.t is being hosted by the Jamshedpur Zone of ASISC (Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate), Bihar and Jharkhand Region at the JRD Tata Sports Complex from September 1, to 3 September. Christopher A Francis who is the secretary of the ASISC – Bihar and Jharkhand Region is the coordinator of the CISCE National Boxing Championship.
On the occasion, Francis said that the idea is to promote young students in the field of sports and help them show their talent.
Principals of 11 schools of Jamshedpur, along with their team of teachers are working together for the success of this event. They are: Swarna Mishra of Dayanand Public School, Puneeta B Chauhan of Hill Top School, Ashu Tiwari of Motilal Nehru Public School, Nandini Shukla of Kerala Samajam Model School, Sharmila Mukherjee of Kerala Public School (Kadma), Rupa Ghosh of Kerala Public School (Mango), Ishita Dey of Tarapore School, Preety Sinha of Gulmohur High School, Manju Singh Principal of ADLS Sunshine School, Rakhi Banerjee Principal of Rajendra Vidyalaya and Rajani Shekher Principal of DBMS English School.
City SP, K Vijay Shankar will be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Sujoy Biswas who has been appointed by CISCE as the chief observer of this event. Ashish Kumar, head, Sports Tata Steel is the special guest for the event. The bouts will take place in U-14, U-17 and U—19 in boys and girls categories.
Participants include from states like Bihar & Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
