Jamshedpur, Aug 4: MP Bidhyut Baran Mahto on Wednesday met Civil Aviation Minister Madhavrao Jyotiraditya Scindia and demanded to make Dhalbhumgarh airport operational. The MP apprised Scindia that the foundation stone for this airport has been laid in January 2019 and the Central Government has almost completed the work for the same. One hundred crore rupees have also been allocated, despite this, till now this airport has not been started. The MP also informed the Minister that this airport would prove to be a boon for the entire region. He said that not only Jharkhand but also Baleshwar industrial area of Odisha and Purulia and Kharagpur industrial area of West Bengal would be connected directly with this airport. Through the memorandum submitted by him, the MP also told the Minister that there is no problem of land acquisition here. As well as this airport was used for military use during the Second World War. If appropriate steps are taken from the level of the central government, then this airport can be started immediately.
Supporting the views of the MP, Scindia said that it is surprising that there is no airport in a place like Jamshedpur. He also said that he has a personal attachment to the city . He will try our best to start this airport in a very short time. At the same time, he said that in this regard, he is directing his officers that they should take necessary action to resolve whatever obstacles are there.
