Jamshedpur advocates meet SSP seek action against parking vendor

Jamshedpur, Dec 24: A delegation of advocates on Thursday met East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police (SSP), M. Tamilvanan and apprised about the misdeeds of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) parking vendor and sought proper action.

The delegation accused the parking vendor, Shibu Singh also a youth Congress leader, of illegally occupying company quarters of Tata Steel and fleecing money from footpath vendors.

The SSP assured the delegation that police would conduct a proper probe into the issue and no culprits would be spared.

Significantly, the advocates have already lodged a complaint against Shibu Singh at the Bistupur thana on December 17 that Shibu Singh and his armed men had assaulted lawyers  and even pelted stones at them for protesting against charging of parking fees. The advocates had blocked the road near Jamshedpur Old Court in protest and lifted the blockade after assurance by police of proper probe into the issue. However, no action has been taken against the accused by the police.

Meanwhile, accused Shibu Singh has also lodged a counter FIR against lawyer Sriram Dubey  of assault and intimidation at the Bistupur thana.

Significantly, the parking vendor highhandedness has led to protest on several occasions near the Jamshedpur Old Court campus.
