Jamshedpur advocate demands sedition case against CM Nitish Kumar

Jamshedpur: Senior advocate and socialist thinker Sudhir Kumar Pappu has urged the Governor and President of Bihar to file a sedition case against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Pappu alleges that Nitish Kumar has disrespected the National Anthem and, on moral grounds, does not have the right to continue holding the esteemed constitutional post.

According to Sudhir Kumar Pappu, the Chief Minister’s failure to stand at attention during the singing of the national anthem and instead engaging in casual behavior sends a negative message to the people of Bihar and the nation. He further stated that Nitish Kumar’s long tenure as Chief Minister—since 2005, excluding the brief term of Jitan Ram Manjhi—has made him arrogant. Pappu accused him of considering himself above constitutional norms, democratic traditions, and public accountability, suggesting that he either feels invincible or is mentally exhausted and in need of medical attention.

Pappu also criticized Nitish Kumar for making derogatory remarks about women on multiple occasions. He questioned Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s nationalism, accusing him of failing to act on the Chief Minister’s alleged insult to the national anthem. Pappu demanded to know whether the Governor had sought a report or taken any constitutional steps regarding the matter.

Furthermore, he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological parent organization, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), of hypocrisy. He stated that their silence on the issue exposes their so-called nationalism, comparing their inaction to Dhritarashtra’s blind love for power in the Mahabharata. He also alleged that their past stance on the national flag and national anthem raises questions about their commitment to patriotism.
