Jamshedpur administration to focus on Crowd Management this Durga Puja, DC and SSP issue clear directives to organizers

Jamshedpur: With Durga Puja just days away, the district administration has shifted its focus firmly on crowd management and public safety. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey on Tuesday carried out extensive inspections of major puja pandals across the city and issued strict guidelines to organizers for ensuring safe and orderly celebrations.

The administration underlined that the biggest challenge during the festival is managing large crowds at popular pandals. The DC and SSP directed that all committees must ensure separate entry and exit points, proper barricading, and deployment of an adequate number of trained volunteers for crowd control. They also emphasized the installation of CCTV cameras for real-time monitoring, public address systems for announcements, and first aid kits to handle emergencies.

Traffic and parking management were also highlighted. Organizers were instructed to earmark designated parking spaces to prevent congestion on main roads and to keep approach routes free for ambulances, fire tenders, and emergency vehicles. Disaster preparedness formed another crucial part of the review, with the DC instructing pandals to have safe electrical wiring, firefighting equipment, water buckets, and sand readily available. Drainage arrangements and pumping machines were also mandated to deal with potential waterlogging.

The inspection covered prominent pandals at Kagalnagar, Rankini Temple, Rani Kudar, Aam Bagan, Kashidih, Toyladungri, Golmuri, Agrico Maidan, Sidgora, Baridiha, Sabuj Kalyan Telco, Burmamines, Mango, and Jugsalai. Senior officials interacted directly with puja committees, taking note of their arrangements and providing necessary corrections and advice.

“Durga Puja is not only a religious festival but also a symbol of cultural and social harmony. Every committee must cooperate with the administration to maintain peace, harmony, and a safe atmosphere for devotees,” said Karn Satyarthi.

Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey briefed organizers on the police deployment plan, which includes additional patrol teams, traffic control measures, and crowd management units at sensitive locations. He appealed to puja committees to extend complete cooperation to the police in maintaining law and order throughout the festivities.

The inspection team comprised City SP Kumar Shivashish, ADM (Law and Order) Bhagirath Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC) Krishna Kumar, DTO Dhananjay, SDM Dhalbhum Chandrajeet Singh, and Traffic DSP Neeraj, along with other senior administrative and police officials.

With the administration’s proactive review and strict directives, this year’s Durga Puja is expected to witness stronger safety protocols and a more disciplined approach to crowd and traffic management, ensuring that the celebrations take place in an atmosphere of peace, devotion, and cultural unity.
