Jamshedpur: In preparation for the upcoming festivals of Holi and Ramadan, District Magistrate Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal held a district-level peace committee meeting at Town Hall, Sidhgora. The meeting aimed to ensure communal harmony and peaceful celebrations across East Singhbhum. Representatives from various community groups, administrative officials, and law enforcement officers attended the session to discuss security arrangements and address concerns raised by the committee members.
To maintain law and order during the festivities, the district administration has established 13 super zones, each equipped with designated administrative officers and police officials. A central control room at Sakchi police station will remain operational to facilitate the swift exchange of information. All Block Development Officers and Circle Officers have been instructed to ensure that healthcare facilities remain fully functional with 24/7 ambulance services and an adequate supply of essential medicines.
During the meeting, the district magistrate assured committee members that all grievances and suggestions regarding public services would be addressed promptly. He urged the youth to refrain from forwarding misleading or fake news that could disrupt law and order. Stringent measures will be implemented at key locations, with officials stationed at major intersections to prevent any disturbances. Emphasizing responsible social media usage, he warned against spreading unverified information and instructed food safety officers to monitor the quality of sweets and colors sold in the market. Additionally, the excise department has been directed to crack down on illegal liquor sales.
The senior superintendent of police highlighted the robust security measures planned for the festivals. Adequate police forces will be deployed across the district, particularly at sensitive religious sites and public places. Static and mobile surveillance teams will remain active, while social media activity will be monitored round the clock to prevent the circulation of inflammatory content. Citizens have been urged to respect personal boundaries while celebrating, avoiding forceful application of colors and playing provocative songs that could offend public sentiment. Special warnings have been issued against drunken driving, with strict legal consequences for violators.
Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan confirmed that Holi will be observed as a dry day, prohibiting the sale and consumption of alcohol. He advised the public to verify any suspicious messages with local authorities before sharing them on social media. He also called on peace committee members to assist in spreading awareness and ensuring law and order during the celebrations.
The meeting was attended by Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shatabdi Majumdar, Rural Superintendent of Police Rishabh Garg, Urban Superintendent of Police Kumar Shivashish, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, Special Officer of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee Krishna Kumar, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, as well as all Block Development Officers, Circle Officers, Deputy Superintendents of Police, and station in-charges.
