Jamshedpur: In the wake of several recent mishaps involving school vehicles, the local police have announced that they will be putting these vehicles under increased scrutiny.
The step is being taken after a Beldih Church School student was hit by a bus while on his way to school on Thursday. The incident occurred around 6:00 am, just 50 meters away from Jugsalai police station. The victim was going on a scooty along with his father.
According to police officials, there have been several instances of accidents and near-misses involving school buses and vans over the past few months. In response, they have decided to step up their efforts to ensure that these vehicles are being operated safely and that all necessary precautions are being taken.
“We take the safety of our children very seriously,” said an official of the police department. “We want to make sure that these school vehicles are being driven by qualified and responsible individuals, and that they are properly maintained and equipped with all necessary safety features.”
As part of their increased scrutiny, police officers will be conducting spot checks of school buses and vans to ensure that drivers are following all traffic laws and regulations, that all passengers are wearing seat belts, and that the vehicles themselves are in good working order. They will also be working with school officials to educate them about safe driving practices and to encourage them to take steps to improve the safety of their vehicles.
The announcement has been welcomed by parents and school officials, who say they are concerned about the recent spate of accidents involving school vehicles.
“We’re glad to see that the police are taking this issue seriously,” said one parent. “Our children’s safety is our top priority, and we want to make sure that they are being transported to and from school in the safest possible manner.”
School officials say they are committed to working with the police department to ensure that their vehicles are safe and that all necessary precautions are being taken.
“We take the safety of our students very seriously,” said a spokesperson for the school district. “We will be working closely with the police department to ensure that our school vehicles are being operated in a safe and responsible manner, and that all necessary safety measures are in place.”
The issue of overloading in school vehicles has become a cause for concern in recent weeks, with reports of several instances of vehicles carrying more passengers than they are designed to accommodate.
According to transportation officials, the problem has been exacerbated by the recent surge in demand for school transportation services, as more and more parents are choosing to send their children to school by bus or van rather than driving them themselves.
“Unfortunately, we are seeing a lot of cases where school vehicles are being overloaded with passengers,” said a spokesperson for the transportation department. “This is a serious safety issue, and we are taking steps to address it.”
