Jamshedpur, July 29: Jamshedpur Abhibhavak Sangh (JAS) lodged a written complaint at the Deputy Commissioners office against certain schools still collecting fees arbitrarily in gross violation of directives issued by the states School Education and Literacy Department. JAS president Dr Umesh Kumar said that as per the directives school managements were asked to charge tuition fees as per the fee structure of session 2019-20 and that structure was to be followed and continued for the session 2020-21.

He alleged that in spite of being clearly stated in the governments directive that schools tuition fees were to be collected monthly, certain schools were continuing to demand fees collectively for six months. In addition, the JAS president said that most schools had not revised their fee collection software as stated in the state governments School Education and Literacy Department directive. The revised software has provision purely for tuition fees. The parents are not being provided the facility of paying the monthly tuition fees. He singled out Loyola High School by pointing out that for the session 2019-20 the school had charged Rs 15,180 for six months @ Rs 2,530 (for Std X) per month whereas for the period 2020-21 it had charged Rs 19,410 @ Rs 3,235 per month (Std X) per month. The difference between the two terms was an enhanced amount of Rs 4,230. This, the JAS president accused was a gross violation of the state governments directive.

JAS has requested the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner to direct schools to install the software that would reflect only the monthly tuition fees and the provision for parents to pay such fees monthly. The JAS also urged the DC to direct the Loyola High school authorities to stop collecting enhanced tuition fees. Similarly, the class wise tuition fees should be similar for the session 2020-21 to the previous semester.
