Jamshedpur: 50 farmers embark on exposure visit and training to Greater Noida

Jamshedpur: Under the National Horticulture Mission Scheme, 50 farmers from the district have been sent on a five-day exposure visit cum training to the Institute of Horticulture Technology (IHT) in Greater Noida. This initiative, organized by the District Horticulture Office, aims to equip farmers with modern and scientific agricultural techniques to enhance productivity and self-reliance.

The exposure visit was flagged off from the Collectorate by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and Project Director ITDA Deepankar Chaudhary. The farmers were transported by bus to the railway station, from where they proceeded to Noida by train. District Horticulture Officer Anima Lakra and District Agriculture Officer were also present to encourage the farmers during the flag-off ceremony.

At the Institute of Horticulture Technology in Greater Noida, the farmers will participate in a comprehensive training program designed to expose them to cutting-edge agricultural practices. The itinerary includes: High-Tech Horticultural Crops: Training on protected farming techniques and hydroponics. Polyhouse and Micro-Irrigation Systems: Learning about controlled environment agriculture and efficient water management methods. Soil Health Management: Techniques to enhance soil fertility and sustainability. Vegetable and Flower Farming: Methods to increase yield and quality. Fruit Gardens and Seed Treatment: Insights into orchard management and seed care.

The program also includes sessions on adopting modern agricultural practices like micro-irrigation and other innovative techniques to improve productivity and resource efficiency.

Addressing the farmers before their departure, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal encouraged them to fully utilize the opportunity to learn and adopt advanced methods of farming. “Modern and scientific techniques can significantly increase agricultural production, opening avenues for additional livelihood opportunities. This will empower farmers to become self-reliant and improve their economic standing,” he remarked.
