Jammu Tawi Express and Amritsar Express to run on diverted routes

Jamshedpur : The South Eastern Railway ( SER) has announced regulation of two long distance trains originating from Tatanagar. A public circular regarding the changes was issued on Thursday.

A circular issued by Garden Reach, the Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway said that from today Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express ( 18101) will run via a diverted route — Jalandhar and Pathankot. The train will not go to Amritsar, the destination station. The train will continue to run on a diverted route for more than a month till January 27.

Similarly, the Tatanagar- Amritsar Express ( 18103) instead of travelling till Amritsar will be short terminated at Jalandhar from December 26 till January 25, next year.

According to information such changes have been made due to a traffic-cum-power block at Amritsar station for construction and repair of trains at that station which falls under Nothern Railway.

” We have spread all the information regarding short-termination and diversion in route for both the trains have been given across all stations through which the trains passes, ” said a spokesperson. He expressed his helplessness over inconvenience caused to the passengers.

Meanwhile, a passenger at Tatanagar railway station said that the distance between Amritsar and Jalandhar will be around 80 Kms. Due to the changes they will have to face problems.

Meanwhile, trains originating or passing through Tatanagar and heading to New Delhi, Mumbai and destinations in South India are witnessing a huge rush of passengers, due to year-end holiday plans. Many schools in Jamshedpur had already declared winter vacation while in the rest tomorrow will be the last working day before the vacation.

Officials at reservation counters at Tatanagar station said waiting lists in several trains, including Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Superfast Express, Tata-Yeshwantpur Superfast Express and Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Superfast Express had crossed 180 between December 28 and January 3. Reservation quota in several of these trains has reached no-room status.

Confirmed seats are also not available in Puri-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Howrah-Ahmedabad Express and several other trains bound for north between December 28 and
January 2.
