Jamshedpur, July 17: Tata Steel organised a ground-breaking ceremony of Jalahari stream development work on Monday. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), the Corporate Social Responsibility wing of Tata Steel has taken up the stream development work in the peripheral village of Khondbond Iron Mine at Jalahari.
The job includes cleaning of the stream, construction of check dams for storage of water, beautification, construction of separate bathing ghats for men and women, construction of bridge and protection of perennial water source.
Shirish Shekhar, Chief, Khondbond Project, Tata Steel graced the occasion as chief guest. Others present on the occasion include Mita Munda, Sarpanch, Jalhari Gram Panchayat, Sabitri Munda, Panchayat Samiti member, Jalhari Gram Panchayat, Tanmay Kar, Unit Head ,TSRDS Joda, Binod Lakra, Executive TSRDS and Self Help Group.
The project will benefit more than 250 households of Jalahari and Jurudi village. After completion of the project, this perennial natural stream can be used for bathing and other domestic purposes. The site was abandoned for several years till it was taken up for development by TSRDS. The project is going to give a new lease of life to the people of villages adjoining Jalahari.
