Jamshedpur, Feb. 13: Giving the much-needed academic boost to over 100-year-old Jagadish Chandra High School in Ghatsila, East Singhbhum, Tata Steel dedicated a science laboratory block to the school students and teachers.
Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice-President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, inaugurated the science block that houses well-equipped laboratories of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, along with toilets for boys and girls. The two-storied block covers over 6,400 sq. ft built-up area.
�The new block will be of great help for the science students as they will now be able to do their practical sessions easily,� said Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran.
Biren Bhuta, Chief, Corporate Social Responsibility, Tata Steel and Mr. S.N. Nandi, Head, Water & Civil Infrastructure, CSR, Tata Steel were also present on the occasion.
According to Chaitali Nath, Headmistress, Jagadish Chandra High School, the cradle was set up in 1898, and was declared a `Linguistic Minority High School� in 1972.
Presently, over 1500 students are enrolled in the school. Over 60 per cent of the school students belong to SC/ST communities.
In the last three years, Jagadish Chandra High School has recorded a pass percentage of over 90% in high school exams.
