Jamshedpur: The villagers of Dungridih village of Jadugora have put up barriers at the village periphery to stop entry of tipplers and other addicts. The women as well as men of the village have joined hands against addiction.
Speaking about their campaign against addiction, the villagers said they had launched the campaign today to free the village from addiction. Many drunkards were driven out of the village.
The villagers said they had demanded measures by the district administration against the sale of illicit liquor. They said many distilleries were being run in the village in an illegal manner. Such distilleries should be dismantled by the administration as soon as possible, they said.
�The administration should remove the distilleries and arrest those involved in sale of illicit liquor or else we will be compelled to take to the streets and punish the culprits,� said one of the villagers.
The campaigners included Balram Tudu, Bablu Baskey, Galu Soren, Pradip Hansda, Prabhat Baskey, Viram Murmu, Sudhir Kashyap, Kailash Sardar, Lilmuni Soren, Lakshmi Tudu, Pano Soren and Parvati Murmu.
