Jamshedpur : East Singhbhum scored a pass percentage of 77.259 per cent in the secondary examination results released by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Thursday. East Singhbhum had scored a pass percentage of 69.45 per cent last year. The performance has increased this year.
The education department had arranged for model question papers and distributed in schools. Apart from the mock test conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), the East Singhbhum district under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) also organised mock tests in schools. Also it had asked schools to conduct extra classes for poor students and to clarify their doubts.
The number of first division scorers too increased this year. About 1,66,916 students scored first division as compared to a lakh students last year.
” The increase in number of students securing first division marks is an indicator in the better quality of matric result. Even the state topper has broken all records. This is a huge qualitative improvement, ” said an official of JAC. The worst performing district was Jamtara with a pass percentage of 52.541 per cent.
A student from Indira Gandhi Balika High School, Hazaribagh scored 496 marks followed by a student of Residential High School, Netarhat with 495 marks. The third topper also from Residential High School, Netarhat scored 492 marks.
An official of education department said he was happy with the results, but the coming year would see even better scores. However considering the available resources and infrastructure the result was satisfactory.
” The credit goes to the hard work of teachers. We focused on teacher’s training and students grooming this year keeping in mind the poor results for the last couple of years in the district. We
conducted special classes for students and are happy with the results,” he said.
Sources informed that the original mark sheets are expected to reach the district education office by next week, which would be distributed thereafter in the respective schools.
The internet cafes of the city were in a choc-a-bloc situation on Thursday as curious students thronged the cyber houses to know the results of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) matriculation examination.
The use of new technology was also widespread as number of cell phone service providers made results available through short message service (SMS). Long queues of the students were seen outside the cyber cafes from mid afternoon. The day however, belonged to the Internet shop owners who registered brisk business. The students rejoiced themselves after getting the results. They expressed satisfaction over the outcome but some were seen little disappointed as they failed to obtain the marks according to expectations.
�I am happy to have achieved second division in the exam. I will work harder and would take up science in intermediate,� said Soma Das, a student of D M Madan , Bistupur.
