Jamshedpur, August 2: International Breastfeeding Week began on Saturday, August 1. Varsha Gandhi gave a talk on breast feeding. She said that breast feeding is beneficial for both mother and child.
She informed that first milk is important for the child as It contains Vitamins and minerals which are essential for healthy growth of the baby. It also contains anti biotics which protects the baby from diseases such as gas, diarrhea, asthma and obesity. It also makes the digestive system stronger.
She talked about ABC wherein A stands for Awareness. Mother should feed the baby whenever it is hungry and should not wait for the baby to cry. B � Be patient. Mother should breast feed the baby as long as the baby wants it and should not hurry. C � Comfort. In order to ensure that the milk reaches the baby smoothly, mother should be relaxed while breastfeeding
