Jamshedpur: The second edition of this year’s Jam@Streets on Sunday proved to be fun and bonding for the residents. The event included fun and games on Bistupur Main Road.
The various activities lined up for the hungama were Cycling, Roller Skating, Basket Ball, Badminton, Boxing, Golf Putting, Karate, Yoga, Aerobics, Art of Living, Walker’s area, General Health Checkup and Blood Sugar Checkup, Kids Zone, Karaoke, Chau Painting, Dandiya, Rock Band, Zumba, Selfie, Painting, Magic Show, and Jugglers.
Jam@Streets is a good opportunity for children and adults to indulge in skating, running, walking, biking and to partake in the community leisure activities such as street games, street dancing; to learn yoga, aerobics and zumba (for which stages were setup at intervals along the route); to come together as a community and celebrate life and sustainability.
The event is inspired by Colombia’s Ciclovia movement to make roads available for pedestrians and cyclists in Bogota. Over a million people use roads free of cars on Sunday in Colombia.
�It is an innovative way we want to instill a sense of belonging to the citizens here. They come out every Sunday spend time with their friends and family on the streets. Jam@Streets Day is akin to a street festival with goodies which can be indulged in by the whole family.
It will have sporting events like roller skating, badminton, basketball, yoga, cycling, aerobics, golf and much more.
Together with games, there will be rock bands adding to the Sunday euphoria with selfie corner, street painting, magic show, dandiya,� said Ashish Mathur, managing director of Jusco.
In association with Jamshedpur Hoteliers� Association several food stalls offering a variety of morning delights including dosas, golgappas, upma, idli, samosa, kachori sabzee, health drinks and fruits, sandwiches, cakes, were offered on the streets.
