ITI Tamar strikes cent per cent placement mark

Jamshedpur: The entire first batch of 14 students, post successful completion of one-year course on mason training at Tata Steel run ITI, Tamar, has secured placements in various Companies from across Jharkhand including Ranchi. The placement package ranges from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,800 per month.

Tata Steel collaborated with the Government of Jharkhand to set up Tata Steel Skill Development Society Private ITI, Tamar in 2012. The Institute, situated at Salgadih, Tamar, offers courses in various trades like fitter, electrician, turner and mason (building construction) and the courses are conducted by Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF).

The first batch of the one-year course on mason training started in April 2013 and completed by March-end this year. The average salary for the successful batch of 14 trainees, all hailing from Jharkhand, confirms to the minimum wage standard set by the state government for skilled worker category (building construction).

New batches for Fitter (Mechanic), Electrician and Turner trainings will be launched in August this year.

Working as an employability enabler, Tata Steel runs various skill development programmes to enable youth gain skills to get jobs as well as become self-employed. The objective is to transform unskilled human resource to a productive resource pool for growth and societal development.
