Jamshedpur, Jan 30: Ishan Kishan’s poor form continued as he fell for just 8 runs in Jharkhand’s first innings against Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur.

The Jharkhand skipper was dismissed leg-before-wicket by Tamil Nadu’s left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore after facing 15 deliveries. His struggles with the bat follow a disappointing performance in the previous match against Chhattisgarh, where he managed only 23 runs.

Despite Ishan’s failure, Jharkhand fought back to take control of the game by the end of Day 1. Batting first, they posted 185 runs in their first innings, with Sharandeep Singh (52) and Anukul Roy (46) leading the effort. Tamil Nadu’s bowlers, led by Ajith Ram (3/47) and Sai Kishore (3/42), ensured that Jharkhand couldn’t post a big total.

However, Jharkhand’s bowlers turned the game around, bundling out Tamil Nadu for just 106 runs. Off-spinner Utkarsh Singh was the star, taking a stunning six-wicket haul (6/30) to put Jharkhand in the driver’s seat. Tamil Nadu struggled against his disciplined bowling, with only Mohamed Ali (37) providing some resistance.

With a first-innings lead of 79 runs, Jharkhand started their second innings cautiously and finished Day 1 at 5/1 in two overs. Kumar Suraj fell for a duck, while Manishi (5*) and Sharandeep Singh (0*) remained at the crease.

Jharkhand will look to extend their lead on Day 2, while Tamil Nadu will aim for quick wickets to stay in the contest. All eyes will be on Ishan Kishan as he seeks to regain form and make an impact with the bat in the second innings.
