International Karate Guru Katyusuki Fukatoshi dies at 82

Jamshedpur, Sep 12: Supreme Grand Master Hanshi Katyusuki Fukatoshi 10th Dan, Black Belt passed away on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. He was 82.

Born in Tokyo on 16th September, 1940, Katyusuki Fukatoshi visited Jamshedpur in the year 2010 and Ranchi in 2015 to attend karate tournament and training camps.

During his visit to Jamshedpur, Grand Master imparted advance training and master tips to the karatekas.

He also gave Black Belt Certificates to Sanjiv Paul, the then VPCS, Tata Steel and Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni, IAS, Jharkhand.

Steel City karate coach L. Nageshwar Rao expressed deep grief over the death of Supreme Grand Master Hanshi Katyusuki Fukatoshi.

“The death of Grand Master is an irreparable loss to the karate fraternity.  I visited Japan thrice and took advance training from him which was very fruitful for me. Katyusuki Fukatoshi had also trained Russian President Valdimir Putin, and the latter received 7th Dan Black Belt from him,” Rao added.

Putin is an expert in Judo and Karate.

Nageshwar Rao informed that Katyusuki Fukatoshi had taken karate training of from Sensei Gogen Yamaguchi, Sensei Eiichi Miyazato and Sensei Jitsui Yogi (Founder, JKF) who were students of Master Chogun Miyagi Sensei. He took 1st to 10th Dan Black Belt from these masters.

A condolence meeting was held at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur and other locations across India on Monday for the peace of the departed soul.

Several karatekas along with their parents paid homage to Great Master.
