Jamshedpur, April 1: Tensions are brewing within the BJP as internal disagreements over candidate selection for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency intensify. Despite the party’s announcement of Bidyut Baran Mahato as its candidate, strong opposition has emerged from within the BJP ranks. Over the past two days, separate meetings have been convened with workers from all assembly constituencies, highlighting the deepening divide within the party.

The dispute initially surfaced during meetings in Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West on Sunday, but it escalated notably during the meeting in Potka assembly constituency on Monday. The clash between officials from Potka and Sundernagar mandals underscores the internal strife over the party’s political dynamics.

Bidyut Baran Mahato’s nomination for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, marking his third consecutive candidacy, has sparked discontent among party workers. During the meeting in Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West, concerns were raised regarding Mahato’s activities, with allegations of demanding money from workers who volunteer for public service.

Additionally, dissatisfaction was expressed towards District Convener Nandji Prasad by BJP leaders and workers. The tensions reached a boiling point during the workers’ meeting in Potka assembly constituency. An altercation erupted between Sundernagar divisional president Chanchal Chakraborty and Potka divisional president Jamla Pal, leading to a physical altercation between the two groups.

Reportedly, Mahato had approached the Potka Mandal President to pay his respects, but a comment made by the Sundernagar Mandal President further exacerbated the situation, resulting in the clash. Gunjan Yadav, the Potka assembly in-charge, witnessed the incident unfold, prompting an uproar that was eventually pacified.
