Inter Steel Plants Cricket Championship: Tata Steel thrashes ASP Durgapur by 175 runs

Jamshedpur, March 13: Tata Steel thrashed Alloy Steels Plant (ASP), Durgapur by 175 runs to register their first win in the Inter Steel Plants Cricket Championship (T20) played at Keenan Stadium.

Batting first Tata Steel scored 211 for 2 in 20 overs. Saurav Tiwary scored 87 not out in 51 balls (4 x 6, 6 x 4) and Tushar Gharat scored 58 not out in 25 balls (4 x 5, 6 x 4).

Chasing a massive target, ASP managed just 36 runs with the whole team back in the pavilion playing just 9.1 overs handing Tata Steel a 175 run win. From Tata Steel- Santosh Yadav took 4 wickets for 18 runs, Tushar Gharat took 3 wickets for 7 runs while Arif Hussain took 2 wickets for 6 runs.

In another match IISCO Steel Plant defeated Vhadrawati Iron & Steel (VISL) 8 wickets in the match played at Telco ground. In the third match of the day Jindal Steel WSL, Bellary beat Rourkela Steel Plant by wickets in the match played at Keenan Stadium.
Tata Steel in association with SPSB is conducting the All India Inter Steel Plants Cricket Championship (T 20) from 12th to 18th March` 2018 at the Keenan Stadium and Tata Motors Ground. 12 Steel Plants teams from across the country are participating in the championship. Around 180 Cricketers / Umpires are participating.

Teams from Alloy Steel Plant, Durgapur, Tata Steel, Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL/VSP), Rourkela Steel Plant, Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Limited, Indian Steel Plant, Burnpur, Vhadrawati Iron & Steel (VISL), Jindal Steel WSL, Bellary, Salem Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and JSPL, Raigarh are participating
Kamlendu Mishra of ASP, Durgapur has been nominated as the Observer of the championship.

BCCI Qualified Umpires of Jamshedpur A M Aich, Raju Pandey, Avishek, Hemant,
Deepak Sethy, Sanjay Mishra, Prakash are the umpires officiating the matches of the championship.
