Jamshedpur, May 4: Team R&D and Sinter Plant registered wins and proceeded in the Inter Departmental Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament for Executives organised by sports department of Tata Steel.
The tournament began on 23rd April at Armoury Ground.
In the first match of the day Sinter Plant beat Engg Services by 40 runs. Batting first team Sinter Plant scored 88 for 3 in 8 overs. Sanjay Sinha scored 26 and P K Singh scored 29 runs.
From Engg Services K K Sanyal took 1 wicket.
In Reply Engg Services were all out for 48 runs in 8 overs. Jasbeer Singh scored 14 and Jaspreet Singh scored 10 runs. From Sinter Plant- Devraj Banerjee took 4 wickets and Sanjay Sinha took 1 wicket.
In the second match team R & D defeated Projects ‘A’ team by 5 runs.
Batting first R & D scored 57 for 7 in 8 overs. Subodh scored 14, Rudra 12 and Prashant 10 runs.
From E&P A Team- Sameer and Goutam took 2 wickets each. In reply E&P A team managed to score 52 runs loosing 6 wickets.
Mahesh scored 13, Sameer 10 and Gyan scored 10 runs. From R&D- Prashant took 3 wickets and Suman took 1 wicket. It may be noted that total of 35 departments are participating the championship.
Matches are being played on knock out basis with 8 over a side.
Umpires Arif, Safdar and Kumar Neeraj are officiating.
Next phase of Matches will be played after May 14.
