Jamshedpur, September 11: City’s intellectuals and litterateurs gathered at Gandhi Ghat in Mango on Sunday supporting the ‘No polythene day’ campaign, pledged not to use polythene on October 2 and said that they would refrain from using the deadly material every possible day.
During a programme held under the banner of Jamshedpur Bhojpuri Sahitya Parishad, several intellectuals gathered at the venue.
Appreciating the campaign launched by district public relation office, senior writer Narmadeshwar Pandey, Saroj Kumar Singh Madhup and Sriram Pandey Bhargav advised all writers and intellectuals not to use polythene.
At the event DPRO Sanjay Kumar, poet Shailendra Pandey Shail and Yamuna Tiwary informed the gathering about the ill effects of polythene.
Everyone present at the programme decided to have discussion on the side effects of polythene at every literary function to be held in the district in near future.
All the present took pledge for environment conservation. On the occasion Kailash Sharma Gajipuri, Shivpujan Singh, Dharm Chandra Poddar, Ashok Ojha, Shakuntala Singh, Veena Pandey Bharti, Uday Pratap Hayat, Sanjay Pathak Snehi, Puja Singh and others were present.
