Jamshedpur, Feb 26: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy accused the organizers of neglecting him at the inaugural function of the second entry gate of Tatanagar railway station on Saturday.
Taking offence at the ‘cold reception’ extended to him by the authorities, Roy said the inauguration programme was ridden with mismanagement and that it lacked accepted standards of decency and dignity.
“The programme was grossly mismanaged and insulting for the invitees. The second entry gate of the railway station opens in my Assembly constituency and the foot over bridge enters the constituency of Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi. Both of us were sent invitation letters by the railway authorities. But sadly enough, when we reached the venue, we realized that the railway authorities were only concerned about the Jamshedpur MP. Legislators have no value for them. They only completed the formality of giving us bouquets and shawls,” said Roy in a press release issued by his office today.
Roy also lashed out at the railway authorities for neglecting the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the programme. “Railway authorities did not give any role to the Chamber president in the programme. It seems they were apprehensive that we might raise issues related to lack of civic amenities in the area and other demands. This is why they did not allow the Jugsalai MLA and me to save even two words,” said Roy.
Roy alleged that the railway authorities had escorted only the MP to the inauguration venue and had deprived him of the attention he deserved as the local MLA. “The organizers were only worried about the MP since he belongs to the political party in power at the Centre, notwithstanding the fact that the party has no legislator in Kolhan to represent it,” said the MLA.
Roy said he came back from the inauguration venue in disappointment. “I hope the railway authorities do not insult any guest in their programme ever again,” he said.
