Jamshedpur, Oct 26: The Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur East organized an awareness session on breast and cervical cancer at Boram Adibasi Government High School. The initiative aimed to educate adolescent girls about the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices.

Club President Dr. Meena Mukherjee led the session, explaining the causes, symptoms, and stages of breast and cervical cancer. She demonstrated self-breast examination techniques and encouraged students to teach their mothers, sisters, and neighbours, making them “master trainers” for spreading awareness. Dr. Mukherjee also highlighted how adolescent girls can play a crucial role in promoting cancer awareness within their families and communities.

Following her talk, the Club’s ISO, Manjari Bhattacharya, conducted an informative session on cervical cancer prevention and the importance of HPV vaccination. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts.
Twenty students aged 14 agreed to visit the Telco Well Baby Clinic for HPV vaccination. The Head Teacher thanked the Inner Wheel Club for organizing such an educational and impactful program. Two members were present and 20 students benefited from the session.
