Jamshedpur, June 28: In a shocking incident, the police arrested a 32-year-old man an employee of a leading industrial unit at Adityapur for committing theft at a retail outlet of Reliance Fresh at Adityapur.
The accused identified as Dharmendra Kumar Singh was arrested from his house in Adityapur on the basis of footage of a CCTV camera installed at the retail outlet. The police recovered a stolen vanity bag, two gold rings, Rs 19,000 and important documents, including an ATM.
Deputy Superintendent of police (Seraikela) Avinash Kumar said that a woman who was a resident of Kalpanapuri in Adityapur had come for shopping at Reliance Fresh’s outlet on Tata-Kandra Road on June 9.
The woman had by mistake kept her vanity bag on a table. The accused who had also come to the outlet picked up the bag and went away.
The DSP said while carrying out investigation, the police scanned the footage of CCTV camera.
According to Kumar, the accused has confessed that he picked the bag. He said the accused also confessed that there were Rs 32,000 out and he spent over Rs 12,000 during this period.
