Jamshedpur, July 8 : IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued warning of heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, especially in northern districts, in the next two days.
” As per our study heavy rainfall is expected at a few isolated pockets of northern Jharkhand during the next 48 hours due to a low pressure area and an associated cyclonic circulation over Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Bihar, ” said an official of Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The districts which will get good spell of rain with possibility of heavy showers include Garwah, Palamau, Chatra, Koderma, Giridih, Chatra, Deoghar, Godda, Pakur and Sahibganj.
However, rainfall activity will reduce in central and southern districts including Ranchi, Gumla, Simdega and Kolhan’s three districts – East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
Light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places in Jharkhand in the past 24 hours. Rajmahal recorded heavy rainfall of 74 mm. Several places in Dumka and Hazaribagh recorded over 40 mm of rain. Garhwa, Chatra and Pathargama in Godda district recored 30 mm of rain. Pakur, Latehar, Koderma and Dhanbad recorded over 20 mm of rain while over 20 IMD observatories in various districts recorded over 10 mm of rain during the last 24 hours.
” As per our studies, Jharkhand will get widespread rain due to the impact of the low pressure. While modertate rain was expected at most places , there are also possibilities of heavy to very heavy rainfall ranging between 70 to 180 mm at a few isolated pockets in the next 48 hours,” said an official at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Officials at the Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore in Kolkata said that the southwest monsoon remained active over Jharkhand during the last 24 hours. ” The active monsoon resulted in a downpour in several parts of the state , especially southern Jharkhand,” said a official at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Kolkata.
