Jamshedpur, July 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rain alert for isolated places over the next 48 hours. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in some areas today.
Weather officials predict heavy rainfall in isolated parts of western, southern and adjoining central regions of the State. On August 1, isolated places in the north-western, north-central and adjoining north-eastern parts of Jharkhand likely to be affected with heavy rainfall. On Friday, August 2, the south western and northeastern regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Gwalior, Churk, Balasore and then extends east-southwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is present over Jharkhand and its surrounding areas between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
Despite the imminent heavy rains, Jharkhand is currently facing a significant rain deficit of 43 percent, with all 24 districts still listed as deficient in rainfall. This alert aims to prepare the residents and authorities for the expected weather conditions urging caution and readiness for potential impact.
