Jamshedpur: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a warning for dense fog in isolated parts of Jharkhand over the next 48 hours, cautioning residents about reduced visibility during early morning hours. According to the forecast, dense fog is expected to envelop the north-western and adjoining central regions of the state early morning on Friday, December 20. The following day, Saturday, December 21, the fog is likely to shift and impact the north-eastern, central, and southern parts of the state.
In addition to the fog advisory, the Meteorological Centre has also predicted a change in weather patterns after the next 24 hours. Isolated places across Jharkhand may experience light rain and cloud cover. Furthermore, minimum temperatures across the state are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next 72 hours, signaling a temporary break from the current cold wave conditions.
At present, the cold weather continues to grip various parts of the state. Ranchi and its adjoining areas recorded a minimum temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while Bokaro also reported similar readings. Jamshedpur, known for its relatively moderate winter, registered a slightly higher minimum temperature of 11.5 degrees Celsius.
Many other locations across Jharkhand reported minimum temperatures exceeding 10 degrees Celsius, reflecting a gradual shift towards slightly warmer conditions. However, the weather agency’s warning of dense fog remains a concern for commuters and those traveling during the early hours. Reduced visibility during foggy conditions can lead to increased risks on roads, particularly in areas with heavy vehicular traffic.
The Meteorological Centre has urged people to take necessary precautions, especially during morning hours, when the fog is most likely to disrupt visibility. Local authorities are advised to issue additional guidelines for motorists and ensure safety measures are in place to minimize accidents.
With the likelihood of light rain and a rise in temperatures, the coming days may offer some respite from the biting cold. Residents, however, are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather advisories to plan their activities accordingly.
